Eco-villains[]

Plot Synopsis[]

During a terrible storm on Hope Island, Gaia tells the Planeteers a story from 1940 of the time the grandparents of Greedly and Dr. Blight (Don Porkaloin and Betty Blight respectively) nearly destroyed a beach in Florida with irresponsible hotel building that was too close to the shores. The only ones standing in their way at the time were a small group of strangers who resembled the present Planeteers: Wally (Kwame), Nico (Wheeler), Lydia (Linka), Li (Gi), and Asi (Ma-Ti).

Quotes[]

  • Gi: What happened to them after that?
  • Gaia: Well, Li's paintings made her famous and inspired many others to help save our seacoasts. Wally's architecture won awards because his buildings worked in harmony with the environment instead of fighting it. As a lawyer, Asi won his tribe a huge settlement from the government for taking their lands. And Nico made cartoons which warned of the global eco-crisis.
  • Wheeler: What about Lydia?
  • Gaia: Oh. Lydia became a congresswoman whose crusade was coastal wetlands, and, um...
  • Wheeler: And? And?
  • Gaia: I think she eventually got married.
  • Wheeler: Nico?
  • Gaia: Now, stop pestering me for details. The storm's over. So go out. Enjoy the sun.
